Graffiti Shoot
Luckily for the me perfect location for this fun whacky portrait shoot was just a short walk from my house in Laurel Canyon. As a Los Angeles Portrait Photographer I trawl Los Angeles for urban edgy locations and so I was thrilled to discover that behind my local Country Store was a colourful graffiti wall – perfect to a cool colourful portrait shoot!
Max is so beautiful and a delight to photograph. The first outfit she wore was this stunning and daring one piece black trouser-suit. Not many could get away with wearing this – but she did with dramatic effect! I loved the way the black outfit stood out from the bright colours behind on the wall. We began with the gorgeous natural light but as the afternoon progressed I introduced a little light from my softbox. Its such a handy piece of kit that allows me to trigger the light remotely from my camera and control the amount of flash. I love using this technique and find it creates more drama to the shot and separates the subject from the background in a subtle way.
After we had finished the shots we had planned it was time for a little more fun – so what better than a few jumping shots! Being a stunt woman this was a piece of cake for Max. I like to use my visual effects skills to combine different elements and in this case – combine three of the jumping shots against the graffiti wall. Its a gently progression from a high legs bent jump to an almost elevated walk!
