Los Angeles magazine feature portrait photographer
As a Los Angeles magazine feature portrait photographer I was thrilled and honored when the American Association for Cancer Research asked me to photograph Emily, a stage IV lung cancer survivor, her husband Miles and their three month old twins for their quarterly magazine Cancer Today. This is a subject very close to my heart and I was very proud to have been given the opportunity for this very special “cover girl” shoot.
Emily, a young athlete was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer when she was just 28 years old. She and her husband Miles had IVF before Emily’s chemotherapy started and the framed prints of the embryo’s were a symbol of Hope during the long treatment that lay ahead. Most surgeon’s refuse to operate on stage IV lung cancer patients but Emily found one willing to do the surgery, her positive attitude, young age and good results of the chemotherapy convinced him to give her the chance she needed. It is an absolute joy real to see her and Miles with their three month old twins – appropriately named Hope and Maggie. Emily – you are an inspiration to all, especially me.
