It’s always fun to photograph families and become absorbed in the creativity of documenting moments. In a studio setting things are slightly different than when out on location, but after setting up lighting, composition and rough posing, the moments happen right in front of me.
This family were especially fun to work. Anna is in a creative industry and had a very clear idea of what style she wanted from the moment we talked on the phone. She has such a striking look which really lent itself to black and white family portraits. The black background really set the stage and gave the portraits a classic timeless feel.
Kids can sometimes be a handle during shoots, especially babies but little Winston was the most placid baby I’ve ever photographed – while older sister Mae was a bundle of energy and giggles and never ceased to perform for the camera!
