Los Angeles School Colonial Day event photography

What a wonderful day we all enjoyed at the Mark Keppel School in Glendale for the Colonial day. This was a first for me to cover a school event as I’m usually up late covering red carpet events in Hollywood, but it was so much fun! Spending the day with all the kids and getting involved in the demonstrations was such a joy and the kids were so well behaved and absolutely loved the camera! The children and staff were all in their Colonial day clothes which looked so great and made the whole day really special. There were so many different demonstrations going on: silversmithing, candle making, drum making, silhouettes, dancing etc. It was a fun packed morning followed by delicious colonial day lunch! The staff had made such a huge effort organising everything, and even the dining roon tables were decorated beautifully. Enjoy the photographs! If you would like to view the full gallery and order prints follow this link.

Downtown Los Angeles Lifestyle shoot

After shooting downtown with the Compton Cricket team last year I looking forward to returning. My shoot with Christian was just the booking I was looking for and suited downtown LA’s edgy urban feel. While the sun gradually dropped down we shot in the most eclectic interior I could have hoped for, we even had a black cat and a piano for props! At magic hour we began shooting outside and the light just got better with us finishing with a “sherlock holmes” look. We all were so completely absorbed in the shoot and after a quick wander around the arty lofts of downtown we all went for dinner at the Brewary and had a well earned celebratory drink. Twice a year the Brewery have a fabulous Art Walk, so if you’d like some creative inspiration go along to the next one http://breweryartwalk.com/ Read More

Britweek red carpet event, Los Angeles 2012

Britweek kicked off on the 24th April with an incredible star-studded red carpet event at a private residence in Hancock Park, Los Angeles. This was the start of two weeks of events to celebrate British talent and industry in LA and it was in true British spirits that the weather was suitably overcast! Despite this the evening was buzzing with everyone had a great time enjoying the fish and chips, sticky toffee pudding, green and blacks chocolate fountain ( delicious!! ) and a never ending supply of cocktails. This was my first Britweek and to be photographing on the red carpet and later at the event was amazing. Many of the guests walking the red carpet are in my Brits in LA portrait book including Matt Goss, Ioan Gruffud, Peter Asher, Martyn Lawrence Bullard and Angie McCartney, so it was great to see so many friendly faces. Hollywood Hills lifestyle shoot

This must be the most stunning, LA at its best location for a shoot. Set in the Hollywood Hills this is what everyone dreams of when thinking about LA lifestyle! I had a great team, superb models, the perfect location and weather, and the best lights and lighting assistant I could hope for. Thank you David! There were many different setups to get though in a short time, so it was a race against time.

Angeleno magazine shoot: Beverly Hills Housewife

What more fun can a shoot be? I was in a gorgeous Beverly Hills home on a sunny day surrounded by cupcakes, kids  and cookies! The children were in their element indulging in delicious cupcakes and cookies while dressed in cute little pink tutu’s. Their Mother looked every inch the glamorous Beverly Hills housewife – stunning in every outfit, from poolside to kitchen to playground swings. Despite it looking warm and sunny it was actually pretty cold out by the pool – our model was such a good sport to brave the chilly weather.

I was so excited to see the resulting advert and to finally get my copy of Angelino magazine. There is nothing better than seeing my work in print! Its a great magazine so if you have not got your copy – go and grab one, they’re free!

Beach shoot at Malaga Cove California

This has to be one of my most magical shoots. The location was the gorgeous Malaga Cove near Palos Verdes during a sunny January day and we managed to navigate the rocks to arrive on the sand. Kate looked so beautiful, in some shots she looked as though she belonged in a Tim Burton does Wuthering Heights movie! The lighting was spectacular – not only did we have gorgeous natural light to use as a backlight, David did an amazing job with the profoto lights – thank you so much! Thank you Kate for braving the cold and the wet and for levitating so perfectly!  Read More

Fine Art: Suffolk sands

Last winter I went on a family trip to Suffolk. It was cold and bleak, but as we strolled along the sandy beach watching the sun go down, the scene became more and more beautiful. I was inspired by some photography I had seen that day in a local gallery, and wanted to capture my own version of this gorgeous beach scene. I am particularly drawn to the views of the fence, which leads the eye along into the distant horizon. The colours were muted and beautiful. It was such a special evening and I am so glad that I was able to share it with those dear to me.

Helen’s beach shoot at Paradise Cove, Malibu

Paradise Cove is aptly named I feel. Its always such a treat to visit this place, and particularly magical to watch the sun go down behind the Malibu mountains. This was my friend Helen’s first visit here and she loved the light and tranquility. She is a talented photographer in England and we met on a photography course in Morocco many years ago. As photographer’s we’ve both felt that we are  always the one’s taking the photographs and wish we could have our own portrait sessions! Well this was the perfect opportunity for Helen to be the other side of the lens. As you can see in the photographs – she thoroughly enjoyed it!   Read More

English family summer time shoot in Surrey

During a summer visit to England I visited Sepideh and her lovely family in Surbiton. It was so comfortable returning to my old home town and great to meet Sepideh’s family. The garden was a real surprise – I had no idea it was so huge, it went on and on, and to my delight, there were swings at the very end of the garden. What fun! The family were such fun to shoot and the children were constantly playing games and making us all giggle. Thank you everyone!

Summer in Santa Ynez, California

This summer my good friends in Santa Ynez invited me to stay at their gorgeous ranch in the Santa Ynez Valley, just outside Solvang. The heat was blistering during my visit, and when we got out of our nicely air conditioned car it was like stepping into an oven! One evening after spending the day driving around the beautiful wineries, we drove up into the hills as the sun set. It was a glorious setting and magical to watch the sun go down behind the mountains.

Levitation workshop with Miss Aniela

With my background in digital visual effects for movies and television, I thought that combining these skills with photography was a good progression for my business. I had admired the work of Miss Aniela for many years and when the chance came up to attend her levitation workshop in London, I signed up immediately! We all met in a light filled studio in Tower Hamlets on what was to be the hottest October day on record! Despite the sweltering heat we all had a immersed ourselves in the world of levitation photography and each created our own shots. Our model Tanya was such a good sport and so patient throughout the day. Here is my very first levitation photograph! More to come….

Maternity photography shoot

Marika’s maternity photo shoot was creative and arty right from the very start! Not only did Marika look absolutely stunning, but we had amazing locations! Everything was perfect! These photographs were taken over two 7 hour shoots, the first at the clients home and the second a combination of the home and location. The “studio shots” were taken at the clients home using my portable studio. Having a portable studio meant that we had everything we needed on hand: hair & make-up and wardrobe. The weather was kind to us also, not only did we capture a rainbow in the fountain shot, we had the most beautiful sunset for the last shots which resulted in soft, dreamy, ethereal images!

Thank you to the wonderful Tara Shakespeare for such amazing hair and make-up and being with us throughout both shoots!
